Packet Description:

“Russian heirloom from seedswoman Marina Danilenko. Oval 2” fruits are deep mahogany with garnet red flesh. Preferred by some for a richly colored spaghetti sauce.”

Our take:

These are hands down my favorite tomato for salads. The fruits teeter on the line of being too big for bite size, usually make it into the mix without being cut. The rich red, and deep green flesh is so flavorful when picked at peak ripeness.

Twas not until my late 20’s that I took a liking to eating tomatoes. The safe, durable, watery, and flavorless slicers that we have been sold forever never did it for me. This variety was one of the ones to see the light. We have been growing it for about 7 years, it will continue to be a staple in our garden.
